Flower fun...

I have been watching a few of Rae Missigman. Rae sets a timer and does an Art journal spread in 15 minutes and posts them on Vimeo. Rae calls these series of video's she has done 15 minutes of Mixed Media. So thought ok I have 15 minutes, I am going to try this. So I did pop Gesso on my page and dry it before I started. That was all the prep though, did not even select paints just went with it. So the colours I selected were from the DecoArt Americana line. My favourite colour Sea Breeze, Orange Flame and Lemon Yellow. Will have to use these again together they are so pretty.  I really love the free style of the way that Rae does her art journal pages. Pen and grey lead pencil scribbling. Just being very free with paint love that, it just makes it fun. I used the Andy Skinner stencil Burned Rubber its a great chevron.. I did it underneath in the orange and then on top in the blue. I finished easily in the 15 minutes but then I did add the quote after. "A single flower can be an entire wonderland in itself." Thought that quote fitted my pages.

Have a great day

Different...

More work in my Travelers Notebook Art Journal today. I was going through a magazine yesterday and I found some great collage pieces so they just had to be used.  I thought the girl on the right looked great with the gold and black theme happening on her. Funny how little pieces of paper can look so different when you take them out of what they are supposed to be. Fun piecing these together. I really liked the Index card I did yesterday with the theme of blueberry and plum. I used those colour paints and I so wanted to use them again. So the colours are DecoArt Sea Breeze, Razzle Berry and Ocean Blue. Will not be the last time I use those colours together. Some of the collage is one of my Gelli prints they work well cut up and pieced here and there. I enjoyed doing the crazy hair on the person on the left, the white signo pen works so well on painted backgrounds. Some collage pieces are from The Artstronauts club collage sheets too, always fun to use those.  Quote, thought it kind of fitted the characters today. "If you're lucky enough to be different never change".

Have a great day

Ditto Project...

Teesha Moore last week gave us some collage in  The Artstronauts Club. Teesha asked us all to use the same pieces of collage, do pen work and see what we all come up with. There is 3 pages and this is the first one that I chose to do. Will be fun to see everyone's variations of the same thing. I popped another piece of collage at the bottom on the right and then pretty much doodled over the whole thing. But I did like the pattern and then that kind of went over the whole thing. You just never know what you are going to end up with when you start to doodle. I really like the freedom and the relaxation of it all. I was going to do drips at the top on the left but they kind of turned into those pod, reed kind of things. I used DecoArt paints with a baby wipe on the background just to give me colour. I bought some pan pastels and I used the blue and pink for shading. That will take some practice. I also used coloured pencils. Lots of spots, I kind of like spots can you tell.

Have a great day

Listen to your inner voice.

This was no 6 in the course easier to number them for myself as I am so far behind and playing catch up. This is Donna Downeys Inspiration Wednesday course and I am having fun with Glazing fluid and think I am getting the hang of using it now. I used my favourite colours the Quinacridone Magenta and Cobalt Teal Hue. I did a  bit of shading with the darker Cobalt Turquoise Hue all from the Media Line from DecoArt. Such pretty colours. I used the stencil, Affirmations from Dina Wakley another favourite. Love the words on this.  For glazing the words I used Paynes grey. I have heard a few people saying how much they liked this colour so thought I would give it a try and yep I like it too.
I used some words from the stencil and wrote with my dip pen. Listen to your inner voice along the line at the side.

Have a great day

Inspiration Wednesday...

I am playing catch up with my classes from Donna Downey Inspiration Wednesday. Wont take me long to catch up now I have started again as they are only twice a month, so means I am only a few behind.

This one was quite a challenge there was skins to make and lots of texture. DecoArt Glazing Medium and lots of Matte Medium. I used the Modeling paste for the skins they turned out great, lots of texture on them. I tried to make them bumpy and not smooth. I really liked the way the Andy Skinner Children stencil worked on this one. I thought it was great that I had both the mask and the stencil to use in the two different ways. I also used the Media Line Texture sand paste in the background. I did not know how it would go with the glazing fluid but I like the way it looked with that beautiful DecoArt Media Line Cobalt Teal Blue. I used the Burnt Umber on the ribbon at the bottom and the Quinacridone Violet on the stencil of the children. Overall I was happy with the way this turned out and I used a few new techniques which is always good to do.

Have a great day

Index Card A Day...

Its that time of year again when its time to grab the index cards and play. Tammy has it all sorted and so organised check it all out at here at Daisy Yellow. Join in the fun as there is no rules. You don't have to follow the prompts you can just do your own thing. The point is to just do a little Index card art every day and have fun along the way.
So for the first one I grabbed some DecoArt paint and rubbed it on. Then went over it with a chevron stencil. Easy and quick. I want to practice my writing so this will be perfect for trying out new styles. Quote is "We don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing".
